VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

JOINT REGISTRAR REQUIRED

The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) is an autonomous body entrusted to provide for free competition in all spheres of commercial and economic activity, to enhance economic efficiency, and to protect consumers from anti-competitive behavior.

CCP is seeking the services of one (1) qualified and experienced professional for the position of Joint Registrar, on a two-year contract basis. This position requires a highly committed and dynamic legal professional with extensive experience in managing quasi-judicial proceedings within the Commission.

Key Responsibilities

The main responsibilities/duties of the post-holder shall include:
a. Conduct and manage quasi-judicial proceedings of the Commission, ensuring timely scheduling, documentation, and adherence to prescribed procedures.
b. Handle and administer case files from initiation to final resolution in accordance with statutory timelines and procedural requirements.
c. Drafting showcause notices, hearing notices, and other legal documents.
d. Representing the Commission before various judicial and quasi-judicial forums, where required, to sign legal pleadings on its behalf.
e. Maintain and update official records of proceedings in the Commission and in various courts.
f. Assist the Commission on matters of administrative, procedural, and regulatory affairs.
g. Liaise with legal departments, benches, and external stakeholders for effective coordination.
h. Ensure compliance with the Competition Act, 2010, and procedural regulations.
i. Perform any other task assigned by the senior management in maintaining transparency, efficiency, and judicial decorum in all proceedings.

Academic Qualification and Experience

Applications from suitable candidates are invited, having the following professional credentials, qualifications, and experience:
i. Minimum LLB degree holder from a HEC-recognized university or from a reputable foreign university, preferably having a LLM in law and/or Barrister at Law.
ii. The candidate must have at least 10 years (in case of LLB degree) and 8 years of Experience (in case of Master's degree) in legal drafting, adjudication, and procedural law.
iii. Experience as a Civil Judge or in a senior judicial/quasi-judicial capacity will be highly preferred.
iv. Comprehensive knowledge of competition law, including the Competition Act, 2010, regulations, and related jurisprudence.
v. Understanding of the regulatory bodies and court or tribunal procedures and administrative law.
vi. Strong analytical research and legal drafting skills with excellent written and oral communication skills.

Candidate shall be expected to work under pressure, meet short deadlines, and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. At all times, He/she is expected to demonstrate a high level of personal integrity and maintain professional standards as well as confidentiality.

Age Limit: The maximum age limit for a candidate is 35 years. A competitive market-based compensation package will be offered, commensurate with the education and experience of the selected candidates.

  • After completion of two years of satisfactory performance, the contract may be extended and/or may be considered for regularization.

  • The Commission reserves the right to accept, reject the applications, or postpone the process as allowed under the rules.
